Board of Abatement

In Vermont, a board of abatement reviews requests for property tax, water, sewer, interest, or collection fee abatements. The board can grant or deny a request, or grant it with adjustments. The board’s decision is based on whether the request is reasonable and proper, and whether it would prevent an injustice or help a taxpayer in extraordinary circumstances.
